The Slate Rules
Effective Date: July 27, 2026 · Version slate-rules-2026-07-27These rules govern The Slate, the audience idea-board operated by LastBastion.TV ("we," "us," "our"). They form part of our Terms of Service and apply in addition to them. Where these rules and the Terms of Service conflict on a matter specific to The Slate, these rules control.
1. The Slate Is a Game
The Slate is an entertainment feature. It is a game in which participants use credits to nominate story ideas and to vote on the ideas of others. It is not a contract to produce content, not an investment, not a wager, and not a competition with a prize.
Nothing on The Slate is a promise, offer, or guarantee that any episode, video, article, broadcast segment, or other content will be produced, published, or distributed.
2. Editorial Discretion Is Absolute
We alone decide what we produce and publish. Our editorial judgment is final, is not reviewable, and is not constrained by vote totals, credit balances, board standing, or any figure displayed anywhere on the site. In particular, and without limiting the foregoing, we may at any time and for any reason or no reason:
- decline to produce any nomination, including one that leads the board;
- reword, retitle, edit, shorten, combine, or otherwise alter any nomination, before or after it is displayed publicly, and display the altered version as submitted;
- remove any nomination from the board, or decline to display it at all;
- produce content on a subject covered by a nomination without producing that nomination, and without any obligation to the person who submitted it;
- produce nothing at all, for any period of time, including indefinitely, and including after nominations have reached any threshold described below;
- change, suspend, reset, or discontinue The Slate, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice, including by retiring ideas or adjusting credit balances.
3. The 100-Vote Threshold
An idea that reaches 100 votes becomes eligible for production review. Eligibility for review is not selection, greenlighting, or production. Reaching the threshold means only that we may consider the idea. We may review it and decline it, review it and alter it, or decline to review it at all. No number of votes obliges us to produce anything.
We may change the threshold at any time. The figure displayed on the site is informational and does not create an entitlement.
4. Credits
4.1 What Credits Are
Slate credits are a virtual score used only inside The Slate. They are separate from any member credits used elsewhere on our platform. Credits have no cash value. They are not currency, not tokens, not securities, and not property. They cannot be redeemed, exchanged, or converted into money or anything of monetary value. They are personal to your account, non-transferable, and cannot be sold, traded, gifted, or assigned.
4.2 How Credits Are Obtained
Credits may be granted when you create an account, when you link a Rumble account, and when a Rumble Rant is attributed to your linked account. You do not purchase credits from us. A Rumble Rant is a payment made to Rumble under Rumble's own terms. We do not receive, process, hold, or refund that payment, and we are not a party to it. Credits granted in connection with a Rant are a discretionary, promotional grant — not goods or services sold to you, and not consideration given in exchange for your payment.
4.3 No Refunds
Credits are non-refundable. We do not provide refunds of money for credits under any circumstances, because credits are not sold and have no cash value. Any adjustment of a credit balance within The Slate is discretionary, is made in credits only, is not an admission of any obligation, and does not entitle you to any money. If you believe credits were granted or deducted in error, contact us at hello@lastbastiontv.com within thirty (30) days of the entry, with the date and the circumstances. We will review the request and our determination is final. Failure to raise a request within that period waives it.
4.4 What Happens to a Stake
Nominating an idea places a stake of credits. Depending on the outcome, credits may be returned to your balance, partially returned, or not returned. Additional credits may be granted in some outcomes. All such adjustments are made in credits only, have no cash value, and are entirely at our discretion. The amounts, the outcomes, and the conditions attached to them may change at any time without notice, and any figures shown in the interface are informational only.
Placing a stake buys nothing. It does not buy production, review, placement on the board, visibility, or a response.
4.5 Expiry and Forfeiture
Credits may expire, be reduced, or be forfeited, including on account closure, on suspension or termination for breach of our Acceptable Use Policy, on discontinuation of The Slate, or where we determine credits were obtained through abuse, automation, duplicate accounts, chargeback, or fraud.
5. Rights in What You Submit
5.1 Licence
By submitting a nomination, message, Rant text, comment, or any other material to The Slate ("Submission"), you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, and sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, edit, translate, publish, distribute, publicly display and publicly perform the Submission, in whole or in part, in any medium now known or later developed, for any purpose, including production, promotion, and advertising, and without attribution, notice, approval, or payment to you. This licence survives termination of your account and deletion of the Submission from the site.
5.2 We Own What We Make
All content we produce is owned exclusively by us, including where it was inspired by, derived from, or responsive to a Submission. You acquire no right, title, or interest in any episode or other content we produce, and no co-authorship, credit, royalty, participation, or compensation of any kind. You waive any such claim.
5.3 Ideas Are Not Exclusive
Subjects, topics, angles, and ideas are not exclusive and are not owned by anyone. We receive many submissions and independently develop material continuously. You acknowledge that we may already be developing, or may later develop or receive from others, content similar or identical to your Submission, without any obligation, compensation, or liability to you, and that you will not assert any claim arising from that similarity. To the extent any moral rights or rights of attribution or integrity exist in a Submission, you waive them to the fullest extent permitted by law.
5.4 Your Warranties
You represent and warrant that the Submission is yours, that you have all rights necessary to grant the licence above, and that it does not infringe any third party's rights, is not defamatory, and does not violate any law or our Acceptable Use Policy. You are solely responsible for your Submission. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of it.
5.5 Submissions Are Public
Nominations that we display appear publicly on the board, may appear on the live broadcast overlay, in social media graphics, and in promotional material, and may be seen and copied by anyone. Do not submit anything confidential, private, or that you are not free to make public.
6. Content We Publish
We are not responsible or liable to you for any content we have published or may publish, whether before or after the date of these rules, and whether or not it relates to a Submission or to The Slate. Content is provided for general information and commentary. It is opinion and reporting, not advice, and you should not rely on it. Nothing in The Slate creates any editorial obligation to you, any duty of care in respect of what we publish, or any right to require, prevent, correct, or remove any publication.
7. Eligibility and Conduct
You must be at least 18 years old to participate, as required by our Terms of Service. One account per person. You may not use automation, duplicate or coordinated accounts, purchased engagement, or any other means to manipulate votes, credits, or standing. We may remove ideas, reverse credits, and suspend or terminate accounts for breach, at our discretion and without refund of anything.
8. No Warranty
THE SLATE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT IT WILL BE AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, ACCURATE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT VOTES, SCORES, CREDIT BALANCES, OR RANKINGS ARE ACCURATE OR WILL BE PRESERVED, OR THAT ANY IDEA WILL BE REVIEWED, SELECTED, OR PRODUCED.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF CREDITS, STANDING, DATA, GOODWILL, OR ANTICIPATED BENEFIT, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SLATE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SLATE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). THE LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS IN OUR TERMS OF SERVICE APPLY EQUALLY HERE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
10. Changes
We may change these rules at any time by posting an updated version with a new effective date and version identifier. Continued participation after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated rules. Changes apply prospectively.
